Chatting To Samuel Deep. The Zoo Project.

True to his name, Samuel plays Deep – and we do mean Deep – House music. He is part of the Slapfunk Records crew since day one, getting the Dutch Underground back in the game. Samuel is making his way to Dubai to continue the string of outrageous beach parties under the Zoo Project Ibiza mega brand…

What have you been listening too lately? I’ve been listening to all kinds of music. From Bossa Nova Jazz to Techno. I love all kinds of music

How did you get into electronic music and production?
It all started back in the days when i was a kid I listened to electronic music. Later when I was 17 I went to house partiess and I was hooked. Since 2007 I start collecting records and by the end of 2009 I start playing in clubs and since then it never stopped. My friends were producing music since the beginning but I started later in 2010 and in may 2011. I got my first release with the guys of SlapFunk.

You’ve been releasing records for a while, how do you feel about your sound now compared to earlier releases, has your music evolved?
Yeah I think it changed in a good way. I mean, if you’re young and learning all the stuff it make sense that when you get older you got more knowledge of those things. So nowadays I’m still learning and I think my music will be better in the next couple of years.

Who are your biggest influences as a producer?
It’s really hard to say because I got my inspiration from all kinds of people and things. All sounds and influences are blended in my mind and that’s where I got my inspiration from.

As a DJ what skills do you think attribute to your successes and range of residencies?
I think it’s just the RAW style of mixing/track choice that made the success.

Is this your first trip to Dubai? What are you expecting from the club scene here?
Yes it’s my first time and I’m looking forward to it.  I really don’t know what to expect because I don’t hear that much from Dubai. So I’ll go with the flow

What can we expect from your Channel Zoo set?
My goal is always to make people dance so it will be a energetic set for sure 😉

Samuel plays Channel Zoo at Nasimi Beach, Friday May 17th. Event details.
